Artist’s Note: "Building Arizona is a symbolic visual narrative exploring structure, resilience, and the raw beauty of the desert landscape. Drawn entirely by hand in my Tucson studio, the piece captures a dynamic Southwestern ecosystem in transition. In the upper left, a vibrant sun wheel bursts beneath a scalloped crown of celestial arches and golden orbs. To the right, a solitary saguaro and clusters of prickly pear thrive on a floating island of desert sand, dripping water drops onto a crumbling brick wall below. On the lower left, a leafy tree breaks free from a pink brick foundation, its roots tangled with a soft pink rosette spiral and sharp agave spears. It stands as an artistic tribute to the continuous process of building a life in the desert—where nature and architecture constantly reshape one another."
